Good Shepherd Children’s Ministry

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.  (John 10:11 ESV)

There is only one thing that The church in DeKalb is about:  the Gospel.  The same goes for our children’s ministry.  In their time under the loving care of our volunteers each week, our children will hear the story of Jesus and the good news of our salvation by grace through faith in Him.

Our bible lessons are not just a series of morality tales, but rather highlight the Person to whom all scripture points which is Jesus Christ.  We acknowledge the role of the Holy Spirit in helping our children understand biblical concepts along with their own spiritual capacity. Therefore, our children will hear and read actual bible passages for each lesson.  And, they will learn not only about the birth and life of Jesus, but the death, burial, resurrection, reign and return of Him as well!

While we hope that our children have fun with music, games, crafts, a snack, and play time, we also want them to know that they are loved by God.  We want to minister to each child and even provide support and encouragement to parents.

It is our desire to see each child come to know Jesus as the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for them.

Each week begins with a large group time of music, drama, or a story.  Then, children are divided into the following two classes with age appropriate lessons and activities.

Little Lambs (ages 3-5 years old)

Guarded Sheep (ages 6-10 years old)

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.  (John 10:27 ESV)

Firstfruits Nursery

For newborn babies through 2 years old.  Children will be cared for in a safe, cheerful environment.

It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb.  (Revelation 14:4 ESV)
